God has a plan.
You’ve heard all about it. And you know that it’s an incredible plan that covers all of humanity.
But did you know that He also has a plan just for you? You are so unique and so precious to Him that it’s as if you are the only one ever created. It’s the same for me. And for every other one of His children, as countless as the grains of sand in the sea.
Both of those plans—the one for all of us and the one for each of us—have the same goal: to save, redeem, and exalt.
Oh, and don’t forget happiness. In the end, we must never forget that God wants us to be happy—to partake of His mercy, to be restored, to be redeemed, and to be delivered from death. In other words, to partake of salvation.
That’s His desire for all of us. To read more, click the button below.
What about His plan just for me? Just for you?
Clearly, your Father in Heaven would need to have a plan for you different from the one He had for the woman who delivered her baby on the dusty trail under a canopy of stars or for the pilgrim who landed at Plymouth Rock after surviving tuberculosis or for the tenant farmer who scratched out a living on a meager patch of soil.
I don’t know what His plan is for you. I don’t even know all of what His plan is for me. But I do know one thing. As I navigate my life amid all the distractions and noise, as I try to figure out what to do next, I remember that He is God, and I am not. He knows the beginning from the end, and I do not.
He has this figured out. I do not.
He holds me in the palm of His hand—and if I am willing, He directs me according to His plan for me.
He will do the same for you.
That’s His part of the deal.
My part of the deal comes down to four simple words: thy will be done.
It’s the same for you.
If the Lord can number the hairs of every head, He can make a perfect, unique, individual plan for you and for me. And He can execute that plan—if you and I turn it over to Him. You’ve heard the vernacular. Give Him the keys. Let Him take the steering wheel. Allow Him to drive the bus.
Simple words. Not, as I have learned, as simple to practice.
No, I’ve learned that it takes more than just a bucket of faith to turn my life over to God, to forsake my own will, to rely on Him. Especially when I’m in the thick of a desperate situation that is tearing at my very soul. Especially when I think I know what’s best for me.
I’ve been in more than a few of those situations. In fact, I’m facing something right now that is trying me to my limit—and some days, I think it is shoving me beyond my limit. Some nights when I collapse into bed after a day filled with sorrow, despair, and uncertainty, I wonder that I was not completely consumed by it all. But as I kneel and whisper, “Thy will be done,” I have faith that I will eventually come out on the other side stronger. Better. More used to His ways. I have faith that I will come out knowing once again that whatever He has planned for me is infinitely more magnificent than anything I could plan or imagine for myself.
It’s the same for you . . . for all of us.
