A Passion for Words
Words are the gossamer threads of the tapestry that spills from the page of every book, forging a robust bond between us and all the people who inhabit the planet. It is those words that inspire us. Soothe us. Expose discoveries. Bring us to the realization, as American writer and social critic James Baldwin wrote, that our pain and heartbreak are not unprecedented in the history of the world, but are shared by all those who have ever been alive. We read, C.S. Lewis said, “to know that we are not alone.” It is my unimaginable joy to create the words that people read and to help others do the same. I will continue as long as I have breath, for I agree with the magnificent John Steinbeck: “I guess there can never be enough books.”
WriterFew things compare to the satisfaction of bringing together my thoughts, forming them into words, and creating a polished piece—a book, article, essay, or blog that allows me to share my insights with others. In addition to my own writing, I also do writing for others—those who have lots of knowledge and expertise and plenty of ideas, but who lack the time, interest, or sometimes the ability to write. It’s called ghostwriting, and hiring me to do it is a perfect way for you to get your ideas in front of an appreciative audience.
EditorI love to edit! As author H. G. Wells put it, “No passion in the world is equal to the passion to alter someone else’s draft.” And if I do my job well, it is like, as Bobbi Romans said, “tinsel to a Christmas tree”—the “perfect amount of sparkle without being gaudy.” The level of editing you need depends a lot on where you are in the writing process.
